The Presence of Absence

Saw this on a billboard, on the way home from a friends art exhibition. It got me thinking…..

How can there be a presence (The state or fact of existing, occurring, or being present in a place or thing) of absence (The state of being away from a place or person)? Two conflicting things put into one phrase to describe one thing (anyone else’s brain slightly fried). I then was wondering what other contradicting phrases there are….I, at the moment (because it’s been a long day with little sleep = not thinking totally straight), can’t think of any.

Therefore I did what any intelligent person would have done… googled it! 😀

Here are a few oxymoron (posh word) that came up: new & improved; act naturally; pretty ugly; control your destiny; same difference; living dead; bittersweet etc etc etc

How people came up with them in the first place amazes me…my thought then went onto how the English language was made/created/started and how amazing the human race is. I will have to stop…all this thinking before bed when I have to get up early tomorrow (5 am!), is not a good think!

So not really much a point to this post…but it was something I saw, which as my blog is about, caused reflection!

I want to be a …

I want to be a dreamer….

All men dream…but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day it find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are DANGEROUS MEN, for they may act with open eyes, to make it possible” – T . E. Lawerence

This is my blog…thoughts/sights/feelings that I have during the day that cause me to think…to dream!

The quote at the beginning is a great quote, one that I heard in a sermon on the first Sunday of 2013. What a quote to start the year with! It inspired me to make the most of 2013…a year for the dreamer! This year I want to make the most of the opportunities I get in order to help get me to the dream I believe God has given me. (That dream I may write about at a later date…one point from the sermon -be careful who you disclose your dream to!)

In case you haven’t worked out I am a christian, one who loves going to church and not because it’s my duty to go (just to point out I am only 20 years old :P); one who believes everything in the Bible – from creation to the visions of what is to come, miracles and stories heaven and hell! If you’re not a christian, that’s your choice and your belief, not mine and I will not try to change that. (Though if you have any questions please ask away!) What I write is for my own benefit, which you may also find useful, hence why I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and start my own blog.

Though it is debatable how long this will last (in my head) as I’ve started things before and not always great at updating daily…I will however always come back to it eventually!

So now begins what will be an interesting year ……
